Roy Rogers is an oil prospector who wants to get rights to drill for oil on a promising piece of land.
Dale Evans (as Billie) sails a local tugboat named "Apache Rose" and Olin Howlin is Mr. Rogers' lovable old codger friend "Alkali".
Bob Nolan and the "Sons of the Pioneers" are around when necessary.
Gamblers aboard the boat "Casino Del Mar" aka "S.S. Casino" are the main adversaries, led by nasty George Meeker (as Reed Calhoun).

Routine
Boy, I don't know how you could stand to watch more than one Roy Rogers film. If you've seen one, the plots in the next 50 you watch will be indistinguishable. Dale Evans is no beauty to look at either. I've never understood the popularity of this guy or his pictures. I will say that watching cowboys ride horses on SoCal beaches is slightly novel.
Here is a quote from Republic Pictures' wikipedia entry: Republic was one of the first Hollywood studios to offer its film library to television. In 1951 Republic established a subsidiary, Hollywood Television Service, to sell screening rights in its vintage westerns and action thrillers. Many of these films, especially Westerns, were edited to fit in a one hour television slot.
Unfortunately, the TV edits are the only surviving prints for some Republic films. There is a short discussion on this issue on the TCM forums.

Question.
Why is this only 56 minutes when the original is 75 minutes? Just a burst of curiosity! It's a good movie.
